Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is part of the foundation of Chinese Medicine. It has been used in China for thousands of years and has been gaining popularity in the United States to treat a variety of health conditions. Chinese herbal medicine is used to treat both acute conditions, such as a cold, or chronic conditions, such as gynecological or gastrointestinal conditions.
Here is a list of commonly treated conditions with Chinese herbal medicine.
- cystic acne
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- ulcerative colitis
- dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
- irregular periods
- perimenopause / menopause
- chronic cough
- common cold
- urinary tract infections
- chronic cystitis
- sports injuries
Herbal medicine is used in combination with acupuncture for certain conditions, however, it can be taken alone without acupuncture. At the initial visit, a treatment plan will be discussed to address the most therapeutically beneficial approach to treating your condition.
At Nashua Acupuncture Center, we are one of a select few acupuncture practices in New Hampshire that has its own herbal pharmacy, which consists of powdered Chinese herbs, on site at the practice. Herbal prescriptions are developed by a board-certified Chinese herbalist and individualized for each patient's health condition.
